Some days I totally rock at the wife, mom, teacher, entrepreneur, sister, daughter, friend, boss thing. Those are the days where my house is almost show room ready, where all the inhabitants of my home are beyond satisfied, and my message reaches people on several continents. Those are the days where I can look around and confidently say… “I got this!”
Other days…not so much. On those less than stellar days, I vacillate between the crushing weight of defeat and vainglory idealism. I’m like a bungee chord. Back and forth, my thoughts and emotions bouncing around.
Those are the days that I definitely need Jesus. That’s my saving grace. I could spend hours, even days feeling down, self denigrating, rethinking my accomplishments, striving to do better… to do more and more and more great things, and all around being a hard to love person.
On those days I need a reminder that I am enough. Those are the days where the freedom of divine grace is important to bring to remembrance. In the absence of prideful disposition, I need to remember that God chose me to be the wife to my husband, the mother to my children, the daughter to my parents, the sister to my siblings, and the friend to my besties. And although I may want to hide, run away, or altogether give up, I choose to remain. On those days I lean hard to my favorite verse:
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13 KJV
I may be a bit wobbly some days but I choose to stand in victory. I stand knowing that I am an overcomer.
Our journeys are uniquely ours but the same God faithfully travels with each of us. He is the same God who is with you during every bit of your journey. You just need to choose whether you will lean and depend on him,…or not.
“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8 KJV
Father, today we choose to lean into your loving, unchanging arms. We recognize that each day we need you to sustain us. Remind us to fix our gaze completely on you. Let us remember that it is in you that we live, breathe, move, and altogether exist. Thank you Lord for your grace as we continue to seek after you. Amen. 🙏🏾
